Advisory, architecture and software for the machine economy

ML Insights combines board-level technology advisory with hands-on architecture and software development. We help boards, industrial companies and founders decide what to build — then build it.

What we do

Technology and product strategy, architecture reviews, technology due diligence, and build-versus-buy decisions for boards and executive teams.

What we build

Working prototypes and production-oriented systems: agentic workflows, MCP integrations, Python services and APIs, retrieval pipelines, evaluation harnesses, smart contracts.

How we engage

Lean, with domain specialists assembled per engagement. Work can end with a decision, a validated prototype, or an operational system — depending on the problem.

Hans-Michael Hauser
Founder & Managing Director, ML Insights AG

I spent nearly two decades at BCG — eight of them as Partner, ultimately leading the Worldwide Digital practice and the Technology, Media & Telecommunications practice in DACH. Then I decided that advising companies on digital transformation and actually building transformative systems require fundamentally different skills.

So I learned to code. Built companies. Won hackathons.

The Pattern

2014–15 — After the Sutskever/Hinton breakthrough on ImageNet, I went deep on machine learning. Took classes at ETH Zürich, built theoretical computer science foundations, competed in ML challenges. Founded ML Insights in March 2015 to bring advanced analytics to industrial operations.

2016 — Founded LoyaltyCoin AG in Zug — one of Switzerland’s early blockchain ventures. The retail scaling thesis didn’t hold, but the conviction in programmable value did.

2022–25 — Joined fija Finance as its first investor, then went hands-on as a blockchain developer: a DeFi vault and strategy on Arbitrum in Solidity, plus an indexing and analytics backend for backtesting and simulating strategies. My apprenticeship in shipping smart contracts rather than evaluating them.

2025–26 — Entered six ETHGlobal hackathons. Won multiple prizes building x402 payment infrastructure, ZK-powered DeFi, and agent commerce protocols. Reckon402, NanoCrawl, Pay402, Detox-Hook, zkFusion — each a working prototype at the intersection of AI agents and blockchain rails.

Each time years ahead of mainstream adoption. Not trend-following — pattern recognition followed by building.

What I Bring

Business Architecture — Kellogg MBA (#1 ranked at the time). Eight years as BCG Partner. Board of Directors at Mikron since 2016, where I chair the Audit Committee, and Meyer Burger (2017–2020). I understand governance, corporate incentives, and how to move large organizations.

Deep Technical Execution — Mathematics and Physics (Universität Stuttgart), Engineering (CentraleSupélec Paris). Current stack: Solidity, ZK-SNARKs (Circom, Noir), Rust, Python/PyTorch, MCP, TypeScript. I prototype what others only pitch.

Founder DNA — The Boom GmbH (SaaS/construction, sold to co-founder). LoyaltyCoin AG. ML Insights AG (running 11+ years). Active angel investor in deep-tech startups (Ninox, AppNavi, KIVU, Refined Laser, fija Finance).

How I Work

I’m not a large consultancy. I work lean — with a network of domain specialists assembled per engagement. The combination of boardroom credibility and hands-on delivery is rare. That’s the point.

Engagements start with a decision and don’t have to stop there. Some end with a recommendation or a due-diligence verdict. Others run through a working prototype. Others continue into production-oriented software — Python services and APIs, agentic workflows, MCP integrations, retrieval pipelines, evaluation harnesses, smart contracts. Which of those you need is part of what we work out.
